Karen 331

All good things must come to an end.... This magnificent
portrait of Lady Karen in cat eye glasses by Zenni and
big green hat concludes her photo shoot.

I wish to thank you, Karen, for your highly individual,
natural yet superb way of posing in no less than 130
glasses and three pince-nez. I am always looking for
models who can really add something to the contents
of my weblogs and you succeeded in every way.
Many of your portraits have a touch of melancholy
but the toungue in cheek aspect is never far away.
A touch of irony can be seen in many portraits and this
may reflect the unusual character of this specialist type
of portrait photography. I also wish to thank you for
your pleasant company during this extended photo shoot
which lasted four hours.
You were quite efficient when it came to making a choice
from the new frames collection for your own glasses, I was
only joking in the presentation of the final portraits :).

Hat off for this splendid lady behind crystal veil!

Karen 330

Preview and review - a superb portrait of stunning
posing by Karen. Beyond words!

Karen 329

Karen did not choose these extravagant cat eye
glasses for use in daily life - but she enjoyed posing
in them. Needless to say, I enjoyed the scene as well!

Karen 327

Another marvelous bonus portrait of Karen in
newly arrived tortoise shell cat eye glasses by Zenni.

Karen 326

For decades, there has been speculation if the cat eye
glasses would return. A few weeks ago I discovered
that their revival may be about to start in the Far East!

Karen 324

The moment of decision!

A final bonus to this extensive photo shoot. Let's pretend
that daylight was restored, enabling Karen to pose in
two recently arrived, rather extravagant Zenni glasses.

Karen 323

Support from the final glimpse of daylight....

Karen 322

Making the right choice is a matter of introspexion....

Karen 320

"What do you think?"

"How about different lenses?"

Karen 319

A very serious candidate indeed....

A serious candidate....

One pair to go....

Karen 310

Another option, another dilemma....
This phase of every photo shoot comes nearest to
what opticians witness every day.

Karen 309

Near the end of the first selection....

Karen 307

Posing and snapping at breakneck speed against the
fading daylight - it's hard to keep up with the model....

Karen 305

What do you think, Mr. Photographer?

Karen 304

The shape of the arms is a special feature of
these glasses.

Karen 302

So far, none of my models chose this purple frame....

Another option, less overwhelming than the
previous pair....

Karen 297

A good model, Karen was back into real posing
within a few seconds.

Oops.... these are big and heavy....

Karen 289

Arguably the best of the five portraits of Karen
in the Louis Jouret glasses. The touch of irony
is great. Again, thanks to Peter and his father
for donating these glasses to my collection.

Karen 288

Karen enjoyed posing in large 1980's frames
and the giant hats kindly made available by
Nel. Never mind that it was a rainy day in
February - these portraits have a summer
feel about them. Great!

Karen 287

These 1980's Louis Jouret glasses are a real time
capsule, just like the preceding early 1960's Nylor
glasses - only different!

Karen 286

A delightful, sunny portrait of Karen posing in
another pair of glasses given to me by Peter
and his father.

Karen 285

Glasses: Louis Jouret 242, early 1980's
[L: -8.75 / R: -8.25]

Karen 284

Nylor was a major player in the eyeware industry
in the 1950's and early 1960's. During the catwalk
at the opening of my exhibition one of my models
(Mieke) received much praise for her looks in a
splendid 1962 half rim pair by Nylor. These portraits
of Karen are in the same league.

Karen 283

One of the highlights of this photo shoot. Karen
poses in a quiet and above all, natural manner,
bringing back the images that could be seen in
the streets of Amsterdam around 1960.

Karen 282

Shortly after the opening of my exhibition a
colleague at my work kindly gave me some
glasses that had belonged to his mother. Much
appreciated. Thanks to Peter and his father!
